Spotlight on... 

I have been keeping tabs on what students have been interested in when book shopping. I have found it thrilling that they are highly interested in action and suspense books! Also I have seen a lot of great non-fiction choices.

Flashlight Friday Fun!

We added a bit more fun to our Friday, by having our Reader's Workshop in the dark with only a fashionable light bracelet and some flashlights! It was so enjoyable to read with partners and experience a new environment! 

Teamwork in room 138

It's all about TEAMWORK

3/4 is still working hard on managing teamwork and being a supportive friend. Today we took advantage a free moment to practice some team building activities that really helped students come out of their shells. Students were asked to untangle themselves into a large standing circle. They were then asked to communicate to one another on how to stand up from a siting position back to back not using their hands. I was hesitant at first, but now they are begging for more! 

Iron Chef

Iron Chef competition 2016

Students from all over the school participated in this years North Hero School version of the Iron Chef. There were so many delicious desserts and savory food items being offered. It was thrilling to have each entry contain some type of Maple consistency to it! Props to Miss Aubin and her 5/6 class for putting this together for a great success!

"Caught Reading Non-Fiction"

It has been so wonderful that our Readers and Writers workshops have been aligned for this trimester. The third and fourth graders have had so many "Aha" moments while using their readers' and writers' eyes. Non-fiction can be a tricky genre to read, but room 138 dove in and is swimming with excitement!

The Science of Sound

Our unit on sound waves have really gotten our brains thinking like scientists. We now realize how science really is everything we do, see and hear. The students in room 138 have been using hands on experiments to discover how sound waves travel.
