Fun Friday

Community outreach

While the skiers were out, Miss Benedict read us a book where we used our creative minds to finish the story. We then worked together to make and package dog treats to bring to the local animal shelter!

Looking For:
Cereal Boxes
I have been told Valentine’s Day is a big thing here at North Hero Elementary. We will be making Valentine’s boxes with these cereal boxes. If you have any leftover I will gladly take them off your hands! We would like to have them by February 5th
More information about Valentine’s Day at NHE will be sent out at a later date.

Beautiful sound waves!

What's that sound?

We have started exploring our unit on sound waves. These students have been pre-taught about sound in first and second grade, and now we are taking it further to discover how and why sound waves move. We watched this amazing video on how beautiful sound waves can be, if only we could always see them! Check it out below!

E-A-G-L-E-S

Let's Go Eagles!

Congratulations to the North Hero Eagle Cheerleading team! First place in their division at their first competition! We are excited for our next competition Saturday February 6th, at South Burlington High School at 3:00. Hope to see you there!

STEM Friday (#2)!

Jack and the Parachute

I was honored to have so many students of different grades participate in this weeks STEM Challenge. Students were given a planning sheet and a broad range of ideas for materials to use. Their goal- to make a parachute for Jack to safely make it down the bean stalk. We had a blast and had many trial and errors!

Fourth Grade Mail Race

The Great Mail Race!

Fourth graders around the United States have been challenging other fourth grade classrooms to participate in the Great Mail Race. This is where there is a questionnaire about their city and town and they send it around to another school in the USA. This is to work on their informational writing skills and connect it back to Social Studies. We have been challenged by a school in North Carolina and a school in Wisconsin!

We are so excited to receive more letters from other states!

Skiing Program

"Snow" doubt about it, Skiing Program is a blast!

Last Friday was our first day of the Ski program for grades 3-6. It was a long drive, but very worth it! The students had a blast learning how to ski or snowboard. A lot of first timers picked it up very quickly! We are excited to go back and have another smooth ride.

Reminders:
Please pack your child with appropriate outdoor attire (Snow pants, jacket, gloves, hat)
Snow sport accepted helmet
Snow goggles
Bagged Lunch
Bagged Dinner
(or money; food is quit expensive there!)
Optional; the students may bring electronics on the bus, but teachers are not responsible for these!
