Experiment Friday!

Students in room 138 have been working on the characteristics of light and how light is everywhere! They have been working hard on using the vocabulary and understanding why light is somewhat magical... or well, scientific!
Today, the students got to complete four different stations involving some water, some money, and a turning arrow!?! It was amazing how these scientists put their heads together and were able to solve the guiding questions.

Let there be light!

We just begun our new science unit on light. We will be discussing how light gives off energy and its importance to us here on Earth. The last few days we have done work with vocabulary that is important to light. Today we even did a light hunt on different forms of light!

Once Upon a Time

Third and fourth graders have been busy researching classic fairy tales paying close attention to their elements and retelling it in their own way! They have been so creative and I am so excited for our next portion of this unit... Making our own!

Lake Champlain Day!

ILoVermont

I decided to have students tell you about our field trip Monday!

"We went on the bus, then we went to Lake Champlain.
When we got off the bus we were getting tickets to get on the boat.
We went to the dinning room hall on the boat. Then we had to wait in the seats before we pass the rocks.
Then we got to go out on the front deck.
When we got to the front we started to take pictures with everybody. Went back inside and had to wait.
We went outside to the back and went up.
Then we went back down so we could get back off the boat.
After the boat we ate lunch on the pier and walked to battery park to play on the playground."

"When we got off the bus to go on the boat, the captains had to explain that we need tickets and Miss Ransom lost her ticket. We got on the boat and there was three floor and we stayed on the middle floor most of the time. We went out on the balcony and the sky deck. When we got off the boat we went to Ecco to eat lunch. Then we walked to battery Park to play on the playground and went back to school."

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle...

... And be innovative!

Students in room 138 took the time to keep track of what they actually do with their trash. We became aware of what can be recycled and what can be reused! We become inventors on Friday, when we used all of our recycled materials and created robot models that would help protect our environment! After giving a presentation and description of each robot I am confident that we have some engineers and scientist in our future.

"We Are All In This Together"

"Heavy hearts, like heavy clouds in the sky, are best relieved by the letting of a little water"

Today was an emotional day in Room 138. It is tough to be a kid and it is always a struggle to find the right words to say (at any age) but especially while growing up. This activity was helpful for us to realize that we are all going through something personal and we continue to be strong here at school every single day!
As we sat down and wrote something heavy in our heart and on our mind we crumpled it up and began to cry. This moment was something we will never forget and continue to learn from. We will all know that anyone we meet or pass is going through something and we must always be humble and kind.
